Tenpin

Developing a creative partnership to deliver exciting entertainment based campaigns that translate across digital, web, app and
in-centre motion videos.

About the client

Tenpin are one of the UK’s leading bowling and entertainment venues with over 48 sites. Beyond bowling, their centers offer a mix of activities from arcades, laser tag, escape rooms and karaoke to Beer pong, mini golf and shuffleboards.

About the problem

Tenpin we’re looking to freshen up their creative content, dissatisfied with their previous rebrand and the combative image it portrayed, they wanted something more engaging that could appeal to both families and young adults. While not a rebrand, we were tasked with freshening up the in-centre motion signage, holiday promotions & various other marketing collateral for print and web that would brand identiy.

We were able to expand the visual arsenal that tenpin could leverage by building upon the aspects that were already working well for them whilst downplaying the more aggressive tone they were using previously. We also introduced a new typeface that could stand out and work in sync with ‘Blackhawk’, their main script typeface. Whilst each sub project has had to adapt to their own requirements, we have managed to create a style that can be different yet familiar.

About the solution

One of the major videos we produced for Tenpin’s mid-year financial report. After initially moving the brand direction forward with an earlier promotional campaign, this was a perfect opportunity to highlight Tenpin in a dynamic and trendy way, which we could roll out into their in-center information screens. Their previous report videos featured video clips with the informational copy sitting over the top, and we were keen to make the video more engaging.

Because of the scale of the video, the animation was produced by Bristol-based animation company Fable, who did a great job of interpreting my storyboards and style frames.
